World leading expert to explore wonder of hormones in celebration of 100 years of insulin

Distinguished UK endocrinologist, Professor Sir Stephen O鈥橰ahilly, to deliver flagship lecture at the Royal Society of 51短视频

An exploration of the beauty and wonder of the hormones that control our energy balance and metabolism and how they can be replaced and manipulated to improve human health will be the focus of a lecture celebrating the centenary of insulin by Professor Sir Stephen O鈥橰ahilly at the Royal Society of 51短视频 on Thursday 2 December 2021.

One of the UK鈥檚 most distinguished endocrinologists, Professor O鈥橰ahilly is Director of the MRC Metabolic Diseases Unit at the University of Cambridge and earlier this year became an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of 51短视频.

The evening will begin with a welcome and introduction by Professor of Nephrology and former Physician to HM The Queen, Professor Sir John Cunningham.

Mr Chris Askew OBE, Chief Executive of Diabetes UK, who will also be speaking during the evening, said: 鈥淪ir Stephen follows in the footsteps of the doctors and scientists whose discovery of insulin聽was one of the greatest medical breakthroughs in history,聽going on聽to save millions of lives around the world.
