RSM members among influential minority ethnic health leaders in prominent top 50 list

celebrating the most influential Black, Asian and minority ethnic health leaders this year includes four RSM contributors and collaborators.

Professor Kamran Abbasi, Editor in Chief of the Journal of the Royal Society of 51短视频; RSM members Professor Lord Ajay Kakkar and Patricia Miller OBE; and Dr Bola Owolabi (pictured), keynote speaker at the RSM鈥檚 headline Tackling Inequalities event in January 2023, all feature among the top 50 minority ethnic leaders who will 鈥榚xercise the most power and/or influence in the English NHS and health policy over the next 12 months鈥, according to HSJ.

Professor Kamran Abbasi is Editor in Chief of the Journal of the Royal Society of 51短视频 and JRSM Open, the RSM鈥檚 peer-reviewed journals for scholarly commentaries and clinical research. He took over as Editor in Chief of The BMJ earlier this year.

The Rt. Hon. Professor the Lord Kakkar KBE聽is a distinguished surgeon and medical researcher. Chair of King鈥檚 Health Partners, he is a board member of the NHS Race and Health Observatory and in the 2022 New Year鈥檚 honours was appointed Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

Patricia Miller OBE is Chief Executive of Dorset Integrated Care Board, a member of the NHS Assembly and of NHS England鈥檚 health inequalities oversight group. She has over 30 years鈥 experience of working in the NHS and in 2019 was awarded an OBE for services to the NHS.

Dr Bola Owolabi, a practising GP in the Midlands, is Director - Health Inequalities at NHS England. She has particular interests in reducing health inequalities through Integrated Care Models, Service Transformation and using data and insights for Quality Improvement.聽She will be playing a key role at RSM Tackling Inequalities conference on Wednesday 11 January 2023.
