This careers event is designed for medical students, foundation doctors, those on career breaks, or who have entered/completed specialty training and are now considering if a career in psychiatry is for them. This is your opportunity to hear from and ask your questions to psychiatrists who have trained in a wide range of subspecialties as well as from trainees on the realities of exams, applications into core or higher training, the journey through training, what on-calls and working hours look like. This event is ideal if you are considering or planning your application for psychiatry training.
This online webinar will allows you to dial in from the comfort of your own home or your place of work and engage with psychiatrists who have trained in and work in a breadth of subspecialties including: medical psychotherapy, mental health of intellectual disabilities, addiction psychiatry, CAMHS, academic psychiatry and forensic psychiatry. You will hear about why they chose their subspecialty, their varied career paths to where they are now, what their day to day work looks like, what they enjoy, what they find challenging. There is time to ask your questions to them to help you work out if this is the specialty for you. Our current trainees will be able to explain the application process, the exams, what core training looks like, the pros and cons they have experienced as psychiatry trainees.
By attending this webinar, you will:Ìý
- Gain in-depth insight into what a career in varied psychiatric subspecialties looks like
- 51¶ÌÊÓƵ what the application process is for psychiatry training
